First Aid Steps<\/h2>

Following these steps may help to preserve the lives of the victims until they reach the hospital and receive the necessary medical care<\/p>\n<\/div>

1- Stop The Bleeding<\/h3>
<\/div><\/div><\/div>
\n

The most common and preventable cause of death is by bleeding to death. Bleeding of the extremities can be stopped very quickly and effectively with tourniquets as a temporary measure for gaining time.<\/p>\n

It is mandatory to mark the use of the tourniquet and time it was applied. A tourniquet can be used for a timeline of 6 hours, and in individual cases up to 16 hours. Up to this time the opening of tourniquets is only allowed with additional medical treatment.<\/p>\n

For other wounds on the rest of the body, the bleeding can be stopped by applying pressure to the wound with a bandage such as a clean towel or cloth. The pressure should be kept on the wound until the bleeding stops. Don't change the bandage when it's full of blood. Put another bandage on it and keep applying pressure on it with both hands.<\/p>\n

2- Prevent Airway Blockage<\/h3>

\n

Check the airway for foreign body obstruction. If the victim is unconscious open the airway with head tilt\/chin lift: Lift up the chin with 2 fingers. At the same time push down on the forehead with the other hand.<\/p>\n

Check for breathing at once - Look\/Listen\/Feel:<\/p>\n

1- Look for movements of the chest and abdomen.<\/p>\n

2- Feel for air on your cheek.<\/p>\n

3- Listen for breathing with your ear over the mouth and nose.<\/p>\n

3- Keep The Victim Warm<\/h3>

\n

Position the victim as appropriate, make comfortable and loosen clothing. Keep him warm, as people with a low body temperature are prone to bleed more. Protect the casualty from wind, rain and cold.\\nKeep them calm and warm, but do not expose them to bright sunlight. Cover the victim with a blanket if they are cold or in shock. Talk to them and explain what you are doing, and that help is on the way.\nLet the injured drink small sips of warm water to avoid hypothermia, but only if he\/she is able to talk, meaning there is no obstruction to the airway. Transfer the injured person as soon as possible to the nearest hospital or health center to receive appropriate medical care.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/section><\/p><\/div>
